Tina Abbott Counselling

About

About Me

I am a BACP Registered and Senior Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist and Senior Accredited Supervisor with over 35 years’ experience in counselling and supervision.

Over the course of my career, I have worked in a wide range of settings, including:

  • Two drug and alcohol agencies, supporting both children and adults affected by addiction — whether their own or that of a family member.

  • Further and Higher Education colleges, working with students and staff on a variety of personal and professional issues.

  • Private practice, offering both short-term counselling and longer-term psychotherapy, including several-times-weekly work.

  • Two NHS hospitals, as a Staff Counsellor supporting healthcare professionals.

  • Cardiff University, where I was Staff Counselling Manager for ten years, providing counselling, supervision, and service leadership.

I am now in full-time private practice, offering therapy, supervision, and experiential workshops.

Throughout my career, I have worked with a diverse range of clients — from young people living in inner-city environments facing emotional and physical deprivation, to NHS consultants, senior academics, and professionals navigating the pressures of modern working life.

My work has supported clients facing issues such as depression, anxiety, work–life balance challenges, bereavement, relationship difficulties, chronic pain, and illness. Whatever the context, my approach remains grounded in respect, curiosity, and a deep commitment to helping people understand themselves and improve their wellbeing.

I abide by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy Ethical Framework
