Clinical Supervision
I offer clinical supervision within a psychodynamic framework to qualified and trainee counsellors and psychotherapists. With almost 40 years’ experience, I have supervised both long- and short-term work across a wide range of theoretical approaches, supporting supervisees from diverse professional and personal backgrounds.
My approach to supervision provides space to think carefully about the work, explore the therapeutic relationship, and reflect on the emotional and relational dynamics that arise in clinical practice. I aim to offer supervision that is thoughtful, challenging and supportive, helping practitioners develop their clinical thinking while also attending to their own experience of the work.
I have worked across a diverse range of settings, including the charitable sector, further and higher education, the NHS and private practice. I also have extensive experience in the management and development of counselling services, including leading Staff Counselling Services within the NHS and at Cardiff University.
I am a BACP Senior Accredited Supervisor and hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Supervision from Leicester University.
Supervision within a psychodynamic framework is a supportive, relational, exploratory and reflective process. My aim is to facilitate the therapist’s self-awareness and deepen their understanding as we explore unconscious processes, including transference and countertransference, in their clinical work and within the supervisory relationship.
